Avista crews continue natural gas restoration efforts in Ashland

March 20, 2019

Customers can visit Avista website for estimated restoration times

Spokane Wash. – March 20, 2019, 6:45 p.m.: Avista crews continue efforts in the field to restore natural gas service to nearly 4,800 Avista customers who lost service on March 19.

Crews have completed the effort to suspend service to the natural gas meters as part of the first step in the restoration process, and 35 service personnel are focused on customer relights. The steps required to suspend natural gas service and relight customers are manual and can take some time. As crews work into this evening, we expect an increase in customers with service fully restored. Crews will perform relighting until 11 p.m. and will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Avista continues to expect all customers to be restored by end of day this Friday.

Information about this outage, including a map of restoration progress and previous communications can be found on myavista.com or here. Restoration may be delayed if crews are unable to gain access to a customer’s property. To help with this, customers can make sure gates are unlocked so Avista can access each meter to safely restore gas service. If there is a dog in the yard, customers should make sure it’s properly secured either in the home or kenneled outside. An adult will also need to be available to let the service person inside.

We understand this is an inconvenience and appreciate the patience and cooperation of our customers. The safety of our customers, communities and employees is our primary goal. Natural gas safety information can be found at https://www.myavista.com/safety.

As more information is available and the restoration process progresses, we will provide additional updates. If customers currently have natural gas service, it is expected that this incident should no longer impact them.
