Avista Hosts Energy Fairs in Spokane
Learn how to use free energy-saving materials and meet with community partners
SPOKANE, Wash. – Sept. 25, 2018: Area residents can learn about energy efficiency, managing their home energy bills and more at Avista’s Energy Fairs. Two Energy Fairs will be held at the following locations this October:
Tuesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 3
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Spokane County Fair & Expo Center, Bay 3
404 North Havana Street
Spokane Valley, WA
Wednesday, October 24
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
West Central Community Center
1603 N. Belt Street
People who attend Avista’s free Energy Fairs will find the following benefits:
- Demonstrations of how to install energy efficiency materials like window plastic and weather stripping. They will also receive free samples of these and other items in an energy kit to install at home.
- Complimentary food and door prizes.
- Visit with Avista staff to learn about various energy saving tips.
- Avista’s community partners will be on hand to provide information about services and resources they provide to the community, including: Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington, Community Health Plan of Washington, Frontier Behavioral Health – Kinship Navigator and Care Cars, Goodwill Industries, SNAP, Spokane Mobility Services, Spokane Public Library, Spokane Bar Association/Volunteer Lawyers Program, Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency, Spokane Vet Center and Eastern Washington 211. Gonzaga Tax Clinic, CHAS Health and City of Spokane Water Department will join the others at the West Central Community Center fair. DSHS Employment Pipeline Navigator will be at the fairgrounds event only.
“Each year our customers ask for help in managing their energy use and costs during the winter. It’s never too early in the year for us to offer a broad range of ideas and demonstrations that will help residents keep the warm air inside and the cold air outside their homes,” said Patrick Lynch, Avista’s director of community development. “Our energy fairs provide a great way for customers to conveniently access Avista’s many services, including information about energy assistance and energy efficiency.”
