Avista Schedules Outages to Complete Undergrounding Power Lines near Calder, Idaho

November 25, 2014
Outages planned on Dec. 3 and 4 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. as customers are transferred to new underground power lines
Nov. 25, 2014:  Approximately 266 customers in the area from Calder, Idaho, to Big Creek will experience power outages on Dec. 3 and Dec 4, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on both days.  During the planned outages, Avista crews will be wrapping up the installation of over four miles of underground power cable from Calder to mile marker 4.0 at Big Creek, transferring customers to the new underground lines, and removing the old overhead lines and equipment.
This is the second year of a three-year project to replace nearly 11 miles of aging overhead infrastructure in rugged terrain that makes it difficult to access equipment for maintenance and repairs. The new underground infrastructure will increase reliability for customers in the area from Calder to Avery, Idaho. Work on the next section of the project is expected to begin in May 2015 and be completed in September.
“We apologize to customers for any inconvenience they may experience while this work is underway,” said Larry Hager, Avista’s district manager for St. Maries. “I encourage customers who may be impacted by the project to visit our website at www.avistautilities.com or call (800) 227-9187 to make sure their current phone number is on record with Avista. That way, they will receive notices by phone on outages that will impact them.”
